    Female Fertility and Conception

The Best Time to have Sex to Conceive

Better sex has no fixed time. And basically sex or sexual intercourse is for two general
reasons, which are having physical pleasure and reproducing the next generation i.e.
having child. So, in that way there’s no fixed or best time to have sex to conceive. At
least having sex in our 24 hours a day schedule does not have such thing. But at the
same time we have to understand that having sex every day in and out doesn’t mean
that you are surely going to conceive. Conception or becoming pregnant is a complex
procedure, which is composed of understanding several single and small but quite
important processes. Easily describing the scientific description the sperm of the male
partner meets the egg of the female partner and if the meeting is all right there will be
a baby otherwise the egg will be lost in the next menstruation.

The egg that we have just described lives for 12 to 24 and may be even 36 hours after
ovulation where the sperm, depending on the cervical environment, lives for 48 to 72
hours in the woman’s reproductive system. So, timing of having sexual intercourse is
important in selecting the most exact date of ovulation. Here, we must mention an
information that some of the couples do believe that if they have regular sex the man
will one day be run out of sperm. But the truth is that a regular sex is better for conception.
Albeit it’s true, according to scientific research, that the density of sperm decreases with
that kind of regularity but the thing required in conception is the quality and motility of
sperm. We must remember that for pregnancy a single healthy sperm is all that the egg
    requires during ovulation.

However, now let us have a look at the scientific calculation that can tell us about the
number of sperms created during several phases of a day. It has been reported using
the recent scientific research that the number of sperms produced between 5 to 7 in the
evening is 35% higher and they are found even livelier than the rest of the day. And it’s
during that time that the chance getting ovulation also increases. Otherwise there are
different opinions about the number of sperms, as some do believe that it’s better during
night and some says it’s better during day. However, the most important thing is to
understand the time of ovulation and having sex 3 to 4 days before and one day after
that period will ensure the chances of conception.

    Female Infertility

When a couple fails to conceive after one year of regular, unprotected intercourse the
couple may have the problem called infertility. In that case the medical tests done on
both the man and the woman will reveal who, among the pair is infertile. Whereas in
men the quantity as well the quality of sperm is responsible for infertility the same thing
with women is far more complex. Scientifically 90% of infertile pairs may know the reasons
behind their infertility but deciding infertility factors for the rest 10% is still not possible
due to the complexity of the nature of female infertility. Better to say, with the help of the
other forms of treatment the infertility, if the reason is defined, is curable.

Among many reasons Pelvic Inflammatory Disease (PID) is one of the main cause for
female infertility. As scientific research reveals, PID is the reason behind the bacterial
effects on reproductive organs, parts of the intestine that lie in the pelvic area and
appendix. Where Chlamydia Trachomatis, an infectious organism, is responsible for
75% of inflammation the most of the rest effects are dependant upon Gonorrhea. Again,
some other reasons behind female infertility are Endometriosis, Hypothalamic Pituitary
Disorder, Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome, Early Menopause or Premature Ovarian Failure,
Thyroid Problems, Luteal Phase Defect, some surgical problems etc.

Along with the aforementioned reasons there are many other causes to affect the female
fertility. Factors like age, weight and excessive exercise, lifestyle that includes smoking,
drinking alcohol, taking drugs and even enjoying sex with several partners, stress and
emotional factors and most importantly the environmental risks or hazards such as exposure
to pesticide and any other chemical are mostly effective in female infertility. The scientific
examination in US reveals that 10.3% of women between the ages of 15 to 44 faces
infertility related problems and the percentage is increasing. It has been again estimated in
a scientific calculation that in 2025 the number of infertile women will reach 7.7 million. The
most enlightened part of this topic is that if the infertility is defined at the earliest possible
stage it’ll be cured soon either with well-known medical services or with some other forms of
    treatment.

    Fertility Conditions

To be fertile, for both men and women, is such a condition that enables the partners
having unprotected intercourse to conceive. To gain such a condition for both men and
women means achieving some characteristics that they achieve by reaching puberty. It
means that now men can produce sperms and women can produce eggs. Its, however,
not so easy as to get fertile by means of getting puberty as there are several other
factors that controls the reproductive ability.

First of all there the hypothalamus must work properly to generate appropriate amount
of Gonadotropin-Releasing Hormone (GnRH) to stimulate pituitary gland. If the gland
properly responses then produce Follicle Stimulating Hormone (FSH) and Luteinizing
Hormone (LH). For men the two FSH and LH will stimulate the testicles and in women
have effect on ovary. By that way male and female will produce sperms and eggs
respectively, which, if united properly will create chances of conception.

Again, producing sperms is not enough, as the number of sperms produced must meet
the requirement in the process of getting pregnant. If the sperms are not capable of
swimming through the cervical mucus to reach the matured egg, there will be less chance
proving fertility. It happens because the vaginal fluid is basically acidic whereas the
sperms require alkaline environment to stay alive. If the sperms can run to save
themselves the chances will increase. With females all about proper responses from
glands and balance of created hormones and a perfect calculation to know exact
ovulation period. Thus if everything goes following the right pavement the fertility
conditions are proved and much waited baby is very near to your lap.

    Getting Pregnant Naturally

The natural way of getting pregnant is nothing but the game of hormones and several
related glands. It all starts with the Hypothalamus, a region of the brain that's placed
right above the Pituitary gland. When hypothalamus releases Gonadotropin-Releasing
Hormone (GnRH), in both male and female cases, the hormone stimulates pituitary gland
to produce Follicle Stimulating Hormone (FSH) and Luteinizing Hormone (LH). Where in
case of men the production of hormones is quite constant the hormones are produced,
in women, in a rhythmic way to control the menstrual cycle and mid-cycle kind of things.

To explain with quite simple language the job of LH and FSH is to stimulate the ovary in
female and testicles in male. They helps getting the egg out of ovary in case of women
and sperms are created with their help in men. When an excited man releases his semen
carrying enough number of spermatozoa or sperms inside the vagina the sperms starts
swimming to get close to the matured egg. If the menstrual cycle is well calculated to get
united and to conceive by means of that, the egg gets fertilized by the most capable
sperm and thus the woman becomes pregnant. To tell you that's the most natural way
    to get pregnant.

If there's any deficiency in men creating sperms the rate of working hormones increases
and the same thing happens with women. Thus the rate of secretion of hormone increases
with the increasing age also as the body still fights to get the last possible eggs or sperms.
If in any case the hypothalamus is destroyed there will be no GnRH reaching the pituitary
and thus the pituitary will cease producing FSH and LH. As a result the production of eggs
and sperms will never be possible and they will become infertile.

How long does it take to get Pregnant?

It’s one of the most frequently asked questions that the doctors face from new couples
seeking conception. We human beings, as scientific research do reveal, are different
from one another in every physical aspect. Thus our ways and complications regarding
pregnancy are unique with every individual. If one requires a day to conceive the other
couple may need more than a year to accomplish the same mission. According to doctors
it’s better, then, to concentrate on things like ovulation period, health, regular check up
etc. for the best possible result. If you require some external help to conceive the other
forms of treatment is there to solve every aspect of your problem.

Actually our body is extremely complex and it’s quite hard to decide what’s going to affect
the pregnancy and it’s even harder to define a certain time of conception for every
individual. It’s due to scientific research that we now know a few more than 50% get
pregnant within 4 months of their unprotected intercourse. The rest scenario is like 75%
get pregnant within first 8 months and one year is to make the pregnancy assured for 90%
of couples. The 10% of couples trying for conception will be unable to conceive and thus
they are counted as infertile couples or male and females. That infertility would sometime
get cured with traditional medicine or the other forms of treatment.

The most important thing to be followed here is that trying to know the time of conception
means you are somehow mentally prepared for pregnancy. Now, it’s your duty first to get
your body ready for pregnancy. Follow every step that is required to get a healthy and
safe pregnancy and if everything including age, your and your partner’s health, quality
and motility of your egg and your partner’s sperms are all right the time of getting
pregnant will be quite near to you. Just follow a healthy lifestyle, calculate best possible
ovulation period, follow the best possible sex position, avoid things like coffee, alcohol
and cigarette, continue exercise and get pregnant soon.

    In-Vitro Fertility

Terminologically In Vitro represents any biological process that is executed outside the
organism. In the same way In Vitro Fertility (IVF) refers to the process of fertilizing egg
cells by sperm outside the woman's womb. It is intended for the infertile couples where
the fallopian tube of the female partner is either absent or blocked or the male partner
is incapable of producing sufficient sperm to fertilize. The process of IVF is generally
performed in containers called petri dishes, which are made of either plastic resins or
glass. Thus the baby produced in the process is colloquially known as Test Tube Baby.

Dr. Patrick Steptoe and Dr. Robert Edwards were first to develop IVF in United Kingdom
and the first so called test tube baby, Louise Brown, was born in England on 25th July,
1978. The process developed afterwards and now it's almost a general solution to any
kind of infertility related problem. To describe the process quite in a simple way we can
say that the treatment cycle typically starts on the third day of menstruation.
Approximately ten days are used injecting Gonadotropins, which checks the follicular
growth. When the follicular maturation is adequate Human Chorionic Gonadotropin that
acts as an analogue of Luteinising Hormone, is given. The eggs, produced in this process
are retrieved from the ovary using a transvaginal procedure to identify ova. Then the
identified eggs are separated to be united with prepared sperm and the fertilization is
done in the process known as Insemination.

There are two processes of IVF namely, Gamete Intrafallopian Transfer (GIFT) and
Zygote Intrafallopian Transfer (ZIFT). In GIFT the fertilization is done in the fallopian
tubes and in ZIFT the process is done in laboratory. The success of the process is
highly dependant on the patient characteristics such as age of the patient, the quality
of the eggs and sperm, the health of the uterus, the duration of the infertility and the
clinical expertise. The latest report on Fertility and Sterility reveals that the accurately
done Acupuncture can improve the success rate of In Vitro Fertility.

    Infertility

Infertility is simply the inability or incapability to naturally conceive a child. It’s counted
that if a couple is unable to conceive even after having one year of unprotected
intercourse the couple may be declared as infertile. American Society for Reproductive
Medicine says infertility affects almost 10% of the reproductive age group in total
population in U.S., which may be counted as almost 6 million. In that number men and
women represents about the one third each in couples and almost 15% of the rest is
the combined result counted among them.

There is another concept known as ‘secondary infertility’. In that case couples faces
difficulty in conceiving after already having one child. There are various reasons such
as diabetes, thyroid disorders, mumps, hydrocele, some kind of infection, having too
much of alcohol or drugs and even too much smoking affecting male fertility. And for
female infertility some reasons stays same and in addition we found liver or kidney
related diseases, Kallmann syndrome, tubal dysfunction, uterine malformations etc
    are also responsible.

Age and stress are also two important factors in effcting fertility. Almost 85% to 90% of
these infertility problems are treated with simple conventional processes such as simple
operations or some drugs. There are several other treatments such as donor insemination
where woman is artificially inseminated, fertility medication where medicine like clomifene
citrate is used to stimulate ovaries to get the matured egg released. In Vitro Fertilization
being assisted by Acupuncture may be counted as great help to the infertility related
    problems.

Is your Body Ready for Pregnancy?

Once you are prepared to conceive you are actually mentally ready for going through
the stages of parenthood but at that time you, as the leading person to conceive and
carry the child, must understand whether your body is ready to move in accordance
with your intention. First and the best way to face conception is to meet your doctor to
know the necessary steps required for safe and healthy conception. There you have
to discuss some important issues with your doctor so that he/she may provide you with
valuable advices to be followed. Your medical history is such an important thing.
Diseases like diabetes, epilepsy, heart disease, hyper and hypo thyroidism, asthma,
problems related to kidney, arthritis, hepatitis and urinary tract infections etc. are some
of the primary concerns in case of conception.

Again, you have to reveal whether you are going through any kind of medication so that
the doctor may advice you to stop using it or taking it in less quantity. You have to
consider if you had any pregnancy related problems such as miscarriage, abortion,
abnormalities of your uterus, births by cesarean section, sudden infant death syndrome
etc. to make things as normal or natural as possible for future conception. If you have
any chronic disease e.g. asthma or high blood pressure they must be under control
before and during your pregnancy period. Along with all these things your and your
partner’s family history regarding diseases must be known so that it may be controlled
during conception. And to face such things you may like to go through other forms of
treatment. You must consider your age also. It’s better to conceive when you are within
35 as after that the chances of miscarriage and some chromosomal disorders increases.

When everything is normal and showing positivity to conceive better you follow a few
more things. If you are using birth control pills better you leave them and watch for a few
months to follow the exact possible ovulation period. Ask your doctor for chart of healthy
food so that you can get the required and balanced nutrition. And your doctor will surely
show you some exercises to keep your mental and physical stress under control. Here it’ll
be better for you as well as your coming child if you follow a healthy life style. You have to
give up smoking, drinking alcohol etc. if you are addicted to them. If everything is healthy
in that way you will surely bear a healthy child and that’s again positively with the help of
    other forms of treatment.

    Sexual Position and Conception

There are varieties of sexual positions in accordance with the requirement of mental
and physical satisfaction of partners engaged in sexual intercourse. Varieties are like
man on top or missionary position, woman on top, sitting, standing, side-by-side, rear
entry or doggy style and what not. At the first look all the positions are basically designed
or evolved to cater the need of sexual pleasure of people. But sex is not only to serve the
need of physical and psychological ecstasy but, just like other animals it has the most
basic purpose to be served that is creating new generation.

As far as pleasure is concerned one can choose any position that comforts him/her. But
here, we have to think of the best sexual position or positions, if possible, which may help
human beings for conception. There are dispute among scientific resolutions about the
relationship between sexual position and conception. Some do believe that there is no
position that can help people in this matter and thus any position that people do find
comfortable can help them to conceive. On the contrary we have the second thought
as the position like man on top is the best one for conception. Other positions are not
avoidable but not too much acceptable as far as the matter is related to getting baby.

The scientific reason, as is developed, behind the success of man on top position is that
in this case sperm has the support of gravitational force to run through the cervix. In other
cases sperms are suppose to use their own capability to travel to the egg. However, in
man on top position one may take the support of a small pillow under the female partner’s
hips. That helps sperms to rest in cervix for a short period of time, which is again helpful
to sperms to swim up through the cervix. If you still fail to conceive even after one year of
unprotected sex better you meet your doctor or you may seek help in the other forms of
treatment prepared to face such problems.
